SUPER CHARGE YOUR PLANTS WITH A FOLIAR FEED

Updated: Sep 20

Foliar Feeding is a great way to feed your vegetables, flowers, and even trees and shrubs. Plants readily absorb nutrients through their leaves. In fact, nutrient uptake is from 100% to 900% more effective when nutrients are applied to the leaves instead of to the soil! Now that’s impressive!

It’s important to note that foliar feeding should be done in the early morning (before 10 a.m.) or late afternoon (near sundown) when the weather is cooler. For one thing, leaves are more receptive at that time of day, but more importantly, most foliar feeds are oil-based, which in hot weather can cause your plants to burn.

Before you rush out and put your garden on a daily leaf spray schedule, stop and remember the basic tenet of organic agriculture: Feed the soil, not the plant. Foliar feeding is best used in combination with soil fertilization.
